I was in Bodega Bay today with old friends visiting from Southern California.
They live 600 miles south of me.
They live 600 miles south of me.
They were staying with family here, they always ask me to come along.
We went to the bay for lunch, mainly for Clam Chowder.
What I didn't do is take a lot of photographs, not any of my friends.
I guess I was having fun seeing sights, hearing old stories that consumed my mind.
This is the ocean at the tip of the bay…
My friend brought her 87 year old mother with her for the visit.
Her mother is beautiful, her white hair, with deep blue eyes.
What she said to me today when I left the nieces house has consumed my mind.
"This will be my last visit up north, I am a lot of trouble".
She has beginning Parkinson's Disease, where she is now walking with a walker.
But she made the trip, she loves to be around people, earlier in her life she always had spirit.
It is hard getting older, seeing people you know age.
Truthfully I was taken by her comment.
I for one think she will make another trip.
My goal is to not procrastinate like I do, and send her cards in the mail.
What person doesn't like to get something fun in the mail.
When I am old will people send me cards or letters?
I hope so...

oh, janie. i am sorry for her. God bless her and her family. i am glad you had the time with them while they were there.
I love writing and sending cards, and when we are old ladies Jane, we will write cards to each other and laugh about our wonderful adventures together! You made a wonderful memory for yourself and this sweet mama that you've known for so many years.
It is like Bretagne in France.
Thierry.
Poignant and sadly beautiful.
Puts things into perspective.
Thanks for sharing, Jane.
That is a good reminder as the internet has changed the mail so much.
Lovely view,and a poignant story.
Taking the time to do nice things for the elderly is always very appreciated and rewarding.Hope the mother of your friend makes it back next year.
Gorgeous! I am planning a trip to SoCal the end of November and may get to take a road trip North with my cousin. Can't wait!
Oh what a shame for that lady. I'm sure she will manage another visit. And how nice of you to send her cards through the mail. I love getting mail and I'm sure she will really appreciate it.
Bodega Bay looks stunning - what a lovely coastline.
Thanks for commening on my blog.
We don't travel very far either and I've never been to Ireland I'm sure you will enjoy it. I'm quite envious of you doing that, whereabouts in Ireland will you be visiting :))
Laura has moved 120 miles away and it takes about 2 1/2 hours to get there. It's not that long a journey - just not one you would do every weekend.
I do still communicate through the mail with youngsters in the family. They really love getting mail, but you're right everyone loves something fun in the mail. You given me a new goal. :) Have a wonderful week!
Gorgeous colors. Help, the Earth is tilting....
This is a beautiful photo
