Today is my first attempt in making my own yogurt.
My Yolife Yogurt Maker arrived yesterday in the mail.
I have been eating more yogurt because of diet, and loving it.
Going to the grocery store, reading all the labels, and trying to buy what I like when on sale seemed like a lot to do.
The junk that's yogurt these days, not appealing.
All the reviews from users are very positive, with tons of suggestions.
Already I might of made a few mistakes on this batch!
The directions say to leave in maker for eight to twelve hours.
This is before you heat the milk on the stove.
Others say four to six hours, or it could become sour with more time.
I thought the longer in the maker would mean thicker.
Not true.
My friend has made yogurt for many years, she brews yogurt for six hours.
She usually makes vanilla but recently branched out to coconut.
However she did report that she went through many batches to get it right!
I used Strauss Organic Non Fat Milk, honey, vanilla, powered milk and plain Greek yogurt for the starter.
One great feature of this unit is it comes with two lids.
In the photo above you see the shorter one.
The tall lid (that I will photograph to post later) allows you to make bigger lots.
Up to eighty ounces of yogurt.
According to my calculations the yogurt will be done between 5:00-6:00PM.
Then it goes in refrigerator for three hours.
In time for me to have it over some fresh organic strawberry's tonight!
To be continued...

Looking forward to hearing of your success!
My husband and I recently began buying Greek yogurt and oh,my! My first thought was "now THIS is what yogurt tasted like when I was little!" I totally agree with the poor quality of the commercial yogurts, which is why I stopped eating it altogether. :-)
GREEK yogurt is the BEST, I know exactly what you mean about its rich taste. Almost too good to be true taste! I did add greek yogurt to my starter.
What a wonderful project! I've never even thought of making my own. I was so disappointed when I went shopping today because the store was out of my favorite Fage yogurt.
