Tubs

The old rusty tub brings joy to those who see it living on.

Old tubs, what stories they could tell.
Are they used so much that no one wants them?
Do people remove them from the home because they are not up to standard?
Are they too small for the people using them?

I like rusty old tubs, and use to try and seek them out.
Found this one in Malibu, California at a nursery we visited.
Even if they are used for planters or animal watering holes,
I think they should live on forever.

I would love an old tub like that in the back yard, maybe over by the old privy :-) It would be great for washing the dogs in the summertime! (And look cool too!)

Me too - I'd love one - I don't know about my neighbors - guess I would put it in the back - but you have a real nice one. sandie

I love them too because they are such a tribute to bygone days and because they are long enough to really relax in!

I like Sharon's idea about washing your dog in the summertime in the tub. :) Yellow flowers are always good!

I think they make such cool planters. I wouldn't mind having one in my back garden.

Love your shot of the Hover fly on the flower.

Hi Janie
We put feed for our small holding of cattle in five of these old bath
tubs,when the fields are muddy.

Love your other photo.

We have an old claw-foot bath tub in the barn. Love how deep it is, but oh so heavy, compared to today's tubs.

That is lovely! If done well, as that one is, I think they are a great addition to the landscape.

I agree 100 %, tubs should live forever. i love the old ones like this, and the claw foot tubs in bathrooms i like, even the new ones, but i prefer the OLD ones. there is a house in our neighborhood that took and old rowboat, a small one, and set it in a flower bed. it looks great

WOW, what a glorious shot that is with the yellow and the fly. it's truly a jaw-dropper. I had an old claw-foot tub that I found in my friend's pasture several years ago and I hauled that thing around wherever I moved. actually the movers were doing the lifting and the hauling, and not happy about it either. I was thinking that I would re-finish it and put it in my bath. well, I finally ended up giving it away to people I didn't even know. I hope it lives on somewhere. I love their charm. happy day to you Jane.

WE have an old claw foot bathtub in a corral. It has sat there for over 20 years now. I keep wanting to turn it into a planter. Hubby keeps saying we should refinish it or use it for an outside tube. Regardless there often is much history in them. Love the bee and yellow flower.
