July 4th, Weekend

Happy July 4th Weekend

When I was a child I was happy with sparklers, a few that put off booms, and old Smokey Joe.
My dad always had a Folgers Coffee can for me to collect the sparklers the following morning.
At the time I thought that was strange using a coffee can.
Today I look back upon those days as being simple.
I am not fond of July 4th only for the loud noises, the clutter not picked up, and mostly how it scares all the pets and animals inside or out of the house.
My hair dresser told me that she has to drug her dog the day prior so he can cope with the noise.
Again I am grateful to be living in a home where I don't have to hear any of it.

This is a glass sunflower that is in a pot in my backyard.
At night it glows different colors.
It is completely solar operated.

Have a happy safe holiday weekend.
You may consider a coffee can to pick up litter!
Take care of your critters.
Eat traditional summer foods that makes you appreciate our life today.
Celebrate with friends and family.

Beautiful! I had so much fun seeing all the beautiful flowers while in your area. Years ago, we lived in La Jolla and I still miss the year-around profusion of flowers. Have a great 4th of July.

Best,
Bonnie

Oh the colors here are so bright who needs fireworks. That yellow flower had me fooled for a minute. I thought how did you get that effect. Have a wonderful 4th of July.

Lovely pics and sentiment, Janie.
Here in Washington State firecrackers are still legal. It gets incredibly loud.
Have a happy and safe Fourth, my friend!

Beautiful colors in your photos.
We once had a dog who was terrified of thunder and firecrackers. Fortunately, Daisy doesn't seem bothered by either. I was afraid the horses would panic the first time they heard firecrackers, but they seem to accept them, too.
Picking up the litter in a coffee can seems like a good idea to me!

Thank you everybody, what nice comments to see. Coffee cans are not common these days. However my husband has a few peanut cans we use for the garden and outside stuff.

that first shot is oh so perfect for a 4th of july post. really beautiful. i agree about the pets and we live in city limits where it is illegal to shoot of fireworks and they do it anyway and it does scare one of our dogs to death. fireworks should be at a county/city sponsored place for those who want to go there, which i do not. love your post

Nice job! That color is great and so perfect for July 4th. Have a good holiday!

The lines to ride the elevator up the Eiffel Tower are quite long, but to take the stairs (as we did), you can get right in. "Red Shoes" practically ran up the tower!

OMG! These flowers are unreal. They have so much color and detail. I love them all.

I'm quite the animal lover too, so I feel bad for the animals that have to suffer through the crazy fireworks

Have yourself an amazing and safe weekend.

Thank you blogger visitors!
I will be posting information on where to locate the glass solar sunflower soon.
Thinking of videoing it at night to post too so you can see how fun it is at night with the light. With appreciation and joy, you always make my day.

I know what you mean, I hate new year with the same reason too noisy and I really don't like when drunken people fire rockets, it is not so safe.I'm always at work or at home that time never go to the town celebrate (am boring yes I'm:)
Love the first macro from Iris.
I feel little bad conscience not visit you but I have 11 hours workdays and only 2-3 spare time in the morning, I try to take a few shots and make a post, there is no time for commenting:) I have weekend off so I have 150 posts to go through and I don't know why but I feel obligate to say some nice words if people have done same to me, right.
Have a nice and quiet weekend darling:)
