Christmas Treasures

My Camera
This is the ornament I mentioned in yesterdays post.
My husband made this in 2006 out of wood.
I believe the lens is a cigarette lighter from a car?
I use to have a Pentax SLR at that time.
Today I use a Nikon D90 SlR, and will never know all the bells and whistles on it.
I keep the ornament out on a dresser all year long in my computer area.
I was very touched when I found this one on the tree.

Backside view you can see it really is a digital camera!
Complete with photo.
That photo was taken in Mexico, when I traveled and had great adventures.

Trains
The train ornament was given to me in 1990.
I worked in a private day care with children from 2 - 5 years old.
Suzanne the teacher ran this out of her quaint home, after she left teaching to raise her three daughters, and continue was she loves to do.
We had very interesting art projects, snacks, and a schedule for the kids.
I enjoyed my time there.
"For Jane from your little friends at Suzanne's house"
Again I can't let this one go, it reminds me of enjoyable times with kids.
It continues to live a life on my tree each year and always will.

Old Saint Nick
Has only been with the decorations for two years.
I liked him because he looks like a jolly, generous, sweet old man rather than the traditional Santa Claus you see on the street or in windows.
One reason I got it was for my grandsons to see and remember.
There may be people that do not appreciate him, but I do.

Snowman
My daughter in law gave me this snowman several years ago.
He appears to bring the whimsical side of life to my tree.
I really like snowmen.
Maybe because I do not live where it snows?
I've built snowmen out of real snow and made snowballs to throw at people.
The ironic thing is I never saw real snow until I was a young adult in my 20's.
I remember the first time I saw snow falling.
Stillness, the gentle dense sound of ice falling was amazing to feel and see.
I believe I was in Yosemite when I witnessed it the first time.
Someday I think it would be fun to stay at the Ahwahnee Hotel (in Yosemite) in winter time.
One night, just to watch winter outside the windows and have a great dinner.

ROBOTS

When my first grandson was born in 2003, he grew up loving Robots.
His mother being so creative made his room fun.
I found a ornament that he could "notice" on the tree when at my house.
It was found by him on the tree, and he could play with it too.
Since he is seven now, he out grew robots.
He still looks at it on my tree and appreciates his robots from the past.

Anyway, to continue on with my slacking on the ornament for this year, do we really have room for anymore ornaments on the tree? I think we're gonna need a bigger tree, to paraphrase that infamous line from JAWS.
