Orchids

I had a orchid years ago and never could keep it alive.
Came across this one a month ago at Freidman Brothers Hardware Store.
Phalaenopsis Orchid
Houseplant moth orchids require 70 to 85 day temperatures.
So I am still crossing my fingers on the life of this one!
I have it placed in my garden window.
If it proves itself, then I want to get the other one I liked that had tans and reds.
I believe they are pretty spectacular and wanted to share.

So beautiful and delicate. I have some wild ones that grow on a certain moss covered hill every summer.

Thank you all, love hearing from you.

Enrique: How endearing of you, thanks.

Carrie: You have wild orchids growing there? Take photos in the summer for your blog so I can see them.

Hi Jane!
You have a really lovely blog! This Orchid is fabulous!
Re your question - I fractured my skull when I was a child, took medication for 18 years and except for a few minor problems... like not being able to spell (so what did I do...become a writer of novels...sure helped!)...have been just fine. Until I bashed my head on the refrigerator last February!! But it's much much better now - I'm almost back to working at the computer as many hours as I did before - so I am very thankful.(And will try to be much more careful of my head).
I am your newest follower and very much looking forward to seeing more!!
Blessings!
Ann

Oh this is spectacular. I could never grown one here I dont think. Its way too cold in the winter months. I might have to ask my florist.
Love it.

An excellent book to read is "Orchid Fever" by Eric Hansen. You get an insight into the obsession for orchids that some have which often is as dangerous and illicit as drug trafficking. Yes, people have been known to die in one way or the other over the pursuit of rare orchids. This is no suprise as you can see from the beautiful picture you have of your orchid.

Lisa:
I am beginning to think it may be too cold here for this orchid. 3 of the flowers got droopy and I cut them off. The other side is holding up. Hoping it will pull thru.

Sinbad:
I heard of that book and thought there was a movie about that same issue. Thanks for the reminder.

Remi:
Hope all is well with you. I assume you are getting a lot of snow your way. Thanks for your comment, always appreciated.
