Rest in Peace
Last evening September 17th, I lost a friend to cancer.
Last evening September 17th, I lost a friend to cancer.
I knew Christine for twenty five years.
She turned sixty in April.
Our relationship was on and off for different reasons.
However we always kept in touch on the phone.
She leaves her daughter Sarah who took care of her.
A son Ryan and his wife living in Atlanta, Georgia.
Christine was one of thirteen children.
People loved her and she had many wonderful caring friends.
She was an excellent attentive listener, and liked to engage conversations.
Beautiful sparkling blue eyes, always with a smile.
She battled her cancer for three years.
Her daughter and I were bedside as Christine peacefully slipped away.

Previously I was employed by Hospice for several years as a caregiver.
Then private care on my own after I decided to leave Memorial Home Hospice.
I have not worked my private care clients for four years.
Looking back on my experiences I must say I loved my work.
I am entertaining the idea of maybe going back to taking care of terminal patients someday.
I think I got use to NO schedules or responsibility.
Better think this one over.

Christine passed away peacefully on September 17, 2010 at home in Sonoma from cancer. Born April 25, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Sonoma County in 1982. Preceded in death by her brother and father. Devoted mother of Ryan Ormond of Atlanta, GA. and Sarah Ormond of Sonoma, CA. Christine was always optimistic, upbeat and graceful as she was giving to others. She will be remembered dearly. Memorial Service on October 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Sonoma United Methodist Church, 109 Patten Street, in Sonoma.

Our deepest and most sincere sympathies go out to you. We are sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend but are very happy to hear you were able to be by her side as she continued on her journey. Everyone needs a friend as wonderful as you. {{big hugs}}
"Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,
May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow."
It is a sad thing to wonder where that person who was once so vibrant and full of life, suddenly take their last breath and they are gone. Your friend Nancy was comforted and loved as she moved on. Know that she will always be with you..
Lovely photo and so telling/
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. While I'm sure it was hard to see her go, I bet she was comforted knowing you were there beside her. Hugs and prayers to you, and to her family.

Thanks ladies, appreciate your posts. Christine is definitely in a better place, and I am comfortable with that. Please note it was Christine not Nancy. Nancy is alive and very well.
My sincerest condolences. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, but I am pleased that you were able to be with her at her time of passing, and that it was peaceful for her.
I'm so sorry for your loss Jane.
Warm hug from Berit.
You have a rare gift in the way you can ease a person through the difficult process of dying. I hope you are able to come to a decision on what you want to do.
Hello Jane, I'm so sorry for your loss, it's never easy, Rest in peace Christine...
Michael
So sorry for your loss. I think it is wonderful that you were able to be with her and her daughter at the end.
Thank you everyone for visiting my blog and leaving heartfelt comments. Christine's daughter has grown leaps and bounds, she will be ok. The poor dear is handling all the details with the help of her uncle. Yesterday she told me that she misses her best friend "her mom". What a tribute to Christine.
I can't remember my user name.... Your sentiment written about Christine is lovely. You are a tried and true friend. Glo
Angela, Berit, Sinbad, Michael, Scott and Glo, thank you. Your comments will be read by many of Christines family and friends. This would mean a lot to her. I still can't believe she is gone. Life is short. Do what you wanna do now. Glo, find your password or create a new one. Easy to do.
Thanks all, will be visiting your blogs as well.
Christines daughter Sarah is doing the best she can be. She planned a memorial service for her mother this coming Saturday. I will be attending. I know that Christine is in a much better place now.
